"The Wilderness Gallery 2009 International Mural Fests'" seventh year has yet again delivered a wonderfully colourful and exception array of work. The Mural Park has been well trod with locals and visiting tourists alike, all wanting to cast their vote for their favourite Mural. A few days of bad weather did not hinder the artists in completing their work, ready for the judges by 1pm yesterday (Saturday 18th April.)
2009 WINNERS ARE
The Wilderness Gallery 2009 International Mural Fest Judges Award Winner
Marc Spijkerbosch from New Zealand with his mural titled "Fire & Life". Marc was presented his prize money of $6,000.00 yesterday at the winners announcement held at the Sheffield Town Hall. Marc was also the winner of last year's "Wilderness Gallery 2008 International Mural Fest Judges Award", along with the "Slaters Country Store 2008 Visitors Choice Award" - the first time that anyone has scooped both the judges award and the visitors choice.
The Jelly Media 2009 Visitors Choice Award Winner
John Eathorne from Tasmania with his mural titled "Perdition". John was also presented his prize money of $1,000.00 yesterday at the winners announcement held at the Sheffield Town Hall.
The visitors choice is the number of votes received during the week of Mural Fest and the voting was very close. Voting still continues for the rest of the year as the murals remain in the Mural Park until the Easter 2010 Mural Fest begins. These votes count towards the "Kentish Council 2009 Mural Fest People's Choice Award" and will be announced during Mural Fest 2010.
Also announced on Saturday was "The Slaters Country Store 2008 People's Choice Award" which was won by Patricia Smart from NSW with her mural titled "Hope". Patricia sent a video thank you as she was unable to attend the presentation in person. Patricia will be sent her prize money of $2,000.00 and has donated her mural to Mural Fest.
