...and so it begins DAY 1

The MuralFest artists have all got off to a great start spending a good part of yesterday sketching out their murals onto the boards. Today the paint off officially started at 9am with Julian Bale the first artist to get paint onto his board and winning a bottle of champagne - a MuralFest tradition.

MuralFest Mini Murals: Kids can paint their own mural at the Mini Mural tent in Mural Park.

Advocate's Mini-Mural Finalists Exhibition

“Susurrations" by Ian Jeanneret - an exploration of the Tasmanian coastline.
"Places I've Been" Hand printed Black and White photographs by Victorian photographer Richard White.

Saturday 10 April  
Taste of the North West 11am - 4pm
King George V Park - Sheffield
A representation of all the wonderful local produce the North West has to offer. Come and sample the wines, food and other local produce from the North West region.

Brushes Down

Winners Announced - 4pm
Mural Park, Sheffield

Days of Silver and Gold  6pm–10pm.
A musical fundraiser hosted by Western Australian folk singer Sean Roche, 6pm pre-dinner nibbles, 7pm meal, cost $45 per person at Weindorfers Restaurant, Gowrie Park Wilderness Village.

 
Poetry Slam

Sheffield Hotel is hosting the Mural Fest Poetry Slam at 6.30pm on Thursday 25th of February. Come along and hear the entries for the 2011 poem that will be the inspiration for the mural artists that year.

It should be a fun night so don't miss out.

 
WIN $1000

VOTE FOR YOUR FAVOURITE MURAL AND GO IN THE DRAW TO WIN $1000

Vote for the artists of your choice by placing a gold coin in the voting envelope with the number of your favourite mural and pop it in a Voting Manor booth in Mural Park at Sheffield.

All votes with gold coin donations go into a draw at the end of the voting period and the winner wins $1000.

This money is provided by the Patrons of Mural Fest, Brian and Laura Inder of Tasmazia and the Village of Lower Crackpot.

 
Poem Deadline

DEALINE TO GET YOUR POEM IN for SHEFFIELD'S INTERNATIONAL MURAL FEST 2011 POETRY COMPETITION

The poem should be 2 – 4 lines on the theme inspired by “Power of Community”.

All ages encouraged. If under 18 please state your date of birth in your entry.

Entries to be mailed to PO Box 169, Sheffield, Tasmania 7306

ENTRIES CLOSE FRIDAY 29th January 2010.

The winning Poem will be used to inspire artists for the 2011 Mural Fest. It was agreed to keep the limit of 2 – 4 lines for the Mural Fest 2011 poem, challenging poets to come up with an inspirational and short poem which will ultimately be interpreted by 9 artists in the Mural painting competition in 2011. The poem will be on display at the Mural Park, Sheffield from the start of “The Wilderness Gallery 2011 International Mural Fest” paint-off during Easter when visitors will get the chance to watch mural art in its creation.

The prize for the winning poem is $100 gift voucher from the Sheffield Bookshop.
